Sunshine Stars had Tunde Adeniji to thank as his brace helped them to a 2-0 win over Gombe United.

The home team took the initiative to their visitors forcing Gombe United goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim into two quick saves from Prince Aggreh and Tunde Adeniji.

The game was temporarily halted in the 18th minutes when fans of Sunshine Stars started throwing missiles onto the pitch.

The game resumed minutes after and Dele Olorundare should have give his team the lead but after profiting from a defensive blunder,he shoot his weak effort out of touch.

Gombe's first real goal threat was provided by Philip Asuquo but his shot went wide,his teammate Ebinum also had his first touch saved at ease by Fabiyi.

With scores at 1-1 going into the break,Sunshine Stars took the lead eight minutes after the break through Tunde Adeniji.

Adeniji's fierce shot sailed pass Agbim in Gombe's goal to grab the game's opener.

The striker not satisfy with scoring once had his brace in the 76th minute with a spectacular volley lobbed over Chigozie Agbim who was badly positioned.

Peter Iyamu of Gombe United wasted a chance to set up a nervy finish as his volley with only Sunshine keeper to beat went wide.

Four minute was added after the expiration of the regulation time of 90 minutes but there was no way back for Gombe United.
