It is with regret we announce that the SL10.ng has come to an end in its current form, BUT football news will continue, on news24.com.ng.

We are pleased to announce that writers who made up the SL10 Squad will provide Nigerian football news at http://www.news24.com.ng/Sport/Football, so make your way now to Africa's biggest online news source for all your football updates…

SL10.ng Editor’s Note:

“For the past year SL10.ng has tried to be at the cutting edge of Nigerian football news, and we are very proud of all those involved in the site. We have broken thousands of stories, and strived to represent all of the football fraternity in Nigeria.

“To our community of loyal readers, it is you who we will miss the most, and while you were still small and growing, thank-you for your loyalty, and we hope that you will continue to support Nigerian football with all passion and fervour you have shown on the site, and follow us to our new location.

“They say ‘imitation is the sincerest form of flattery,’ and if that is the case, thank-you to the HUNDREDS of Nigerian (and global) media outlets who copied our stories over the year (a special thanks to those who sourced us rather than just copy-and-pasted).

“To all those who contributed to SL10.ng and to our social media platforms, the regular writers, the guest bloggers, thank-you. Your passion was contagious.

“And special thanks to those who experimented with me with different innovations, like Chris Oguguo and the SL10 Web Radio Show last year, Toyin Ibitoye and his World Cup Diaries (and Toyin’s Thought thereafter), Akinlolu Alonge for his dedicated live coverage on Twitter, Ademetan Abayomi and his team of NPL match reporters who did reports for EVERY NPL game for over a year, and of course those dedicated news-hounds who shall remain nameless, you know who you are.

“To ALL the Nigerians I have interacted with since being involved with the site, thank-you for being so welcoming, and heart-warming. I have made friends for life, and Nigeria will always own a piece of my heart (except when they play Bafana Bafana of course).

“While it is sad that our time has come to an end in its current form, I hope that you will follow SL10’s squad of writers, who will now be providing football news to the biggest news site in Africa, News24.com.ng

“With every ending, there is a new beginning, and now the best football news will reach a bigger audience.”

“Oh dah-boh.”

@Goldfish, u and all the rest who always claim Nigeria has average players are just comedians. Costa Rica was very impressive in the last world cup, do they have better players than Nigeria? In 2010, Ghana had Africa's best outing at the World cup, do they have players playing regularly for Real madrid, Barca, Chelsea or Man united? S.Korea reached the semi final of 2002 World cup, do they have better players than Nigeria? Time will fail me to continue. Its obvious that most of you just like to avoid saying the obvious truth: KESHI IS INCOMPETENT TO LEAD THE SUPER EAGLE. You are being blinded by the Afcon triumph. Lol, Keshi, your JUJU still dey work ooo, e never expire

Well I think we had at least 7-8quality players....but the coach should know that he's going against the best and should have started strong players like isaac, simon, yahaya, and iheanacho and would have thought about substituting if they messed up. Not even after the 70th min mark did this guy make a substitution and for sokari he made a similar mistake haruna lukman made in 2009 when we played Germany and the game was tied at 2-2...I see future stars in the team just a very obvious tactical deficiency on our side.Worst case we should have held them to a shoot out or even scored.

@wallosh10 make no mistake, when a team do not have up to 7-9 grade A players, such team is always handicapped playing against teams like Argentina, France etc,,,,and grade A players don't play for Stoke, fenerbche, celtic, Ashdod, etc which is where our players find themselves because that's there level, the Gulf in class between the mentioned teams ND the likes of bayern, real Madrid, arsenal is a chasm! Finidi and other young coaches should go through the proper channels ND pay their dues, the Nigerian league should be enough exposure for start to young coaches, Nduka and Manu have cut their teeth here on the NFL system. I usually cry out for better structure for our league which is the bedrock of our football for both coaches, players ND even referees but commenters on this site are obsessed with foreign born players. Disgusting

Another observation is that physically the German boys where significantly taller and bigger than the Nigerians. that also contributed to the dominance. In two years many of these Nigerian players will still be withing the Age limit for the U20 world cup and will be much more physically developed and professionally exposed. 2017 is the year Nigeria is more likely to win the World Cup. In 2017 Brazil and Germany will not be able to touch Nigeria.

It does not make sense to give Garba 7yrs Contract with the U17s. Younger coaches like Finidi George etc need the U17 team to gain exposure and experience. The more coaches that are given oppurnity at 17 level practice their coaching skills the better. Overtime more Nigerian coaches will be good enough to coach the Senior team. Today only Siasia and Keshi and Amodu have the required experience to handle the Super eagles. We need more coaches to gain experience and exposure.

The NFF should send Manu Garba and Nduka Ugbade on a UEFA Professional Coaching License Course for several months or for however long those courses run. I believe those two men have something special, They will gain from additional Education. One thing I know from personal experience is that when you fail you learn. This failure has taught Manu Garba very important lessons. Nigeria will lose if he is discarded for loosing to a very very good Germany Team

Manu will have to hold up his hands on this one. Didn't seem to study Germans a priori. Didn't make in-game adjustments. There were simple solutions all over the park. Look before you pass, stretch the play, ditch the route one balls, sit on players not space. This team is still a good unit. Just stumped against a better and more organized side, and let down by poor tactics. --Collinc Udoh

am not a keshi fan but is good to say the truth, manu garba is not ripe to handle the super eagles for now, the problem with we nigerian fanz is we have easly forgoten that keshi win the AFCON which the so called white man could not win for us,we includin me condemn him because he did qualify nigeria for 2015 edition, many of us tip manu for super eagles job; but now we can see that coaching youth team is far difrent from coachin senior team.

@Benue you have to understand that discovering young talent is different from grooming them to stardom. Manu Garba can get away with being tactically naive at the U17 but he won't get away with that at the U20. Imagine the way European and South American teams caught him out, the same keshi you guys lowball here put up a fight against top European and South American teams at the highest level in the world cup and confederations cup with the low quality players available to him. Imagine Manu playing a formation of 4 strikers against top opposition like Brazil, I guess he was reading too much from blind supporters on this forum who haven't worked a day in football. He underrated Brazil, how much more naive can a coach be? That first loss to Brazil kicked us out of this competition. Manu must be drafted back to the U17 where he belongs, the Nff should give him a contract for 7yrs with the U17s

@benue, why did manu play one man up front? Germany win us because manu is playing defensive game instead of telling our players to mach germany one on one, as for me manu is not technical sound because he should av learn from our first defeat from brazil.
