After conquering African football, winning the CAF Champions League as well as the CAF Super Cup, and also making history by participating in the Club World Cup, one would expect to see Mamelodi Sundowns been ranked along side the other giants of South African football such as Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, however, that has not happened as we see Masandawana still regarded as a small team here in Mzansi.
Masandawana's current dominance is a continuity of what started some past couple of years when former Downs boss Zola Mahobe took in charge of the team, and his dream was to turn Mamelodi Sundowns to be one of the best teams here in South Africa and Africa as a whole, a force to be reckon with, and that dream is stil much alive as we the Masandawana continue making history after another.
The "Brazilians" as Mamelodi Sundowns is affectionately known in football circles is the only team to have won more Premiership titles than any other team in the PSL era, winning it a record of seven times, and Masandawana are also proud themselves of having a good Head to Head record of playing against Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, meaning all these three teams, Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns are at the same level.
As a result, Mamelodi Sundowns should start getting the kinda recognition the team deserves, that of being promoted from just being the Tshwane giants to be the giants of South African football.
Having said that, do you think MamelodiSundowns is underrated? Do they deserve to be ranked along side the giants of Mzansi 's football such as Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates?
