Reports: Manchester United Eye £40 million Real Madrid Star

English giants Manchester United are weighing up a reported bid of £40 million for Real Madrid star Karim Benzema.

The Red Devils have opted not to make Radamel Falcao’s loan permanent and now Louis van Gaal has now turned his attention to the French striker.

According to English paper, The Sun, Benzema is on top of Van Gaal’s wish list and it’s said United are ready to pay £40million for the French striker, who was once a target for Sir Alex Ferguson before making the move to the Bernabeu.

Van Gaal has openly admitted that he is looking for a 20-goal-a-season striker, and with Falcao being sent back to Monaco and Robin van Persie struggling with fitness, it seems that United are in desperate need of a new striker.

It’s unclear whether Benzema will be part of Real Madrid’s plans for next season, as they have just had a coaching change.

Benzema joined Real from Lyon in 2009 and signed a new five-year deal with the Spanish giants last summer.
