Kaizer Chiefs winger, George Lebese, is no longer the same player who used to be thrilling to watch under Stuart Baxter’s mentorship at Naturena over two seasons ago.
He no longer brings smiles to the Amakhosi’s fans faces and it looks like he has lost his determination and hunger for success. Over the past two seasons, the midfielder has completely failed to stay consistent with his performances throughout the season.
He used to produce fireworks, flair and goals down the wing for the mighty Amakhosi. Lack of consistency has cost him a place in the national team. When a good player like Lebese loses his form, that also affects the team’s performances.
Kaizer Chiefs’ failure to win silverware for two seasons in a row is the outcome of the poor form by the club's best players. A similar scenario transpired during the 2010/2011 season under Vladimir Vermezovic.
Although chiefs won the Telkom Knockout Cup the previous season, the likes of Josta Dladla dropped their heads against Orlando pirates in the MTN8 final and they ended that particular season with no silverware. Lebese was dropped from Steve Komphela’s starting line-up as the Zimbabwean attacker, Edmore Chirambadare, was preferred ahead of him.
With that said, do you think that George Lebese deserves to play for Kaizer Chiefs?
