“What Chiefs Need To Do To Stay On Top?” – Reader’s Voice

Kaizer Chiefs have been in great form since the start of the year and find themselves third on the log after a slow start to the season. So, what do they need to do to make sure that they can stay in the title race?

The team’s defence has been rock solid from day one, with Lorenzo Gordinho, Erick Mathoho, Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Sibusiso Khumalo playing very well in front of the evergreen Itumeleng Khune for the first half of the season. Now Tsepo Masilela has taken over from Khumalo, but otherwise nothing much has changed.

The big change for Chiefs in the second half of the season has been at the other end of the pitch. Where the team looked impotent in front of goal before, there has been a radical change of late. Gustavo Paez has been a sensation, despite early doubts over his quality. Furthermore, the likes of Bernard Parker, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Joseph Malongoane, George Maluleka and Edmore Chirambadare have found their feet and have put in some great performances.

So, if Chiefs want to stay on top and remain in the race for titles, it’s important that they keep up the form and combinations at the front. Steve Komphela needs to ensure that there is consistency every week.

What do you think Chiefs need to do to keep up their current form?
